For the most part, Carbon Fiber Hoods are made of Carbon Fiber material which consists of thin material made of carbon atoms. These "fibers" are weaved together to achieve the 3D look which is similar to a basket weave. Compared to a stock OEM Metal hood, hoods made of Carbon Fiber are generally much lighter - up to 50%

Most Carbon Fiber Hoods already have UV Clear Coating to prevent the hoods from fading. Usually when ordering hoods, you can just install it right away without having to paint it like fiberglass and urethane parts.
